Hugo Schuncke

(1823-1909) came from a musical family. His father, Johann Gottfried, had a career as a hornist In Kassel and Stuttgart, and he trained several of his sons to be musicians. one of them, Johann Gottfried Hugo, usually known as Hugo Schuncke, became a court violinist in Stuttgart. He also composed, counting among his works an oboe concerto (one of the few such works from the 19th Century) and this double concertino, which he called a “concertante” for violin, cello and orchestra
