Carl Roskott

(1953-2008) was an American composer, music teacher, and conductor.

Born in Baltimore, he studied at the Peabody and New England Conservatories. Initially composing in an atonal idiom, he became disillusioned with the avant-garde, and began to write music in a tonal, fully Romantic style. He held conducting posts for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Music Festival Camp in Guilford, NC, Charlotteville Symphony and University of Virginia Symphony Orchestras, and taught at Carleton College and the University of Virginia.
