Carl Czerny: String Quartet No.28 in A-Flat Major (1851)

 

Carl Czerny (German: [ˈtʃɛʁniː]; 21 February 1791 – 15 July 1857)[2] was an Austrian composer, teacher, and pianist of Czech origin whose music spanned the late Classical and early Romantic eras. His vast musical production amounted to over a thousand works and his books of studies for the piano are still widely used in piano teaching. He was one of Ludwig van Beethoven's best-known pupils.

 

교육용 피아노 작품으로 유명하다. 처음에는 아버지 벤첼 체르니로부터 피아노를 배웠으며, 나중에는 베토벤에게도 배웠고 클레멘티와 후멜의 영향을 받았다.

15세 때 빈에서 피아노를 가르치기 시작했으며, 리스트와 베토벤의 조카를 비롯한 많은 유명한 피아니스트를 배출했다.

그의 작품 가운데 출판된 악곡수는 거의 1,000여 곡에 달한다. 이 가운데 2곡의 로시니 서곡에 대한 편곡은 피아노 1대당 2명이 연주하는, 8대의 피아노로 연주하도록 편성되었다. 그러나 무엇보다 피아노 연습곡으로 후대에 지속적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 그의 연습곡은 수세대 동안 피아노 선생들로부터 높이 평가받았다.

그가운데 대표작으로 〈속도 연습곡 School of Velocity〉·〈기교 연습곡 School of Virtuosity〉·〈왼손 연습곡 School of the Left Hand〉을 들 수 있다. 이들은 단계에 따라 정확하게 배열된 연습곡들로 20세기에도 여전히 사용되고 있다. 그밖에도 체르니는 베토벤 피아노 소타나 연주에 대한 귀중한 논문도 남겼다. [다음백과]
