Cipriani Potter:
(3 October 1792 – 26 September 1871) was an English musician. He was composer, pianist, conductor and teacher. The name Cipriani was given him in honor of his godmother, a relative of Giovanni Battista Cipriani, a standout Italian-sounding part of an otherwise very English name.
Symphony No.4 (no.7), in F majorChamber Philharmonic, Douglas Bostock (conductor), rec. 4-5 Sept 2004
1. Allegro con fuoco – 00:00
2. Andantino grazioso – 10:07
3. Menuetto. Allegro non tanto - Trio – Menuetto – 19:24
4. Finale: Allegro assai – 25:41
Note: Potter seems to have adopted two separate and contradictory systems for the numbering of his symphonies of which nine are extant. This has led to considerable confusion. Thus Symphony No. 4 (chronologically) in F major (1826) is styled No.7 by the composer.
