Franz Benda

Franz Benda (Czech: František Benda) baptised 22 November 1709, Benátky nad Jizerou – 7 March 1786, Potsdam) was a Bohemian violinist and composer, who worked for much of his life at the court of Frederick the Great.

18세기 독일의 유명한 바이올린 연주자.

재능있는 음악가인 장 지리 벤다와 도로타 브릭시 사이에서 맏아들로 태어났다. J. 그라운에게 배웠고, 그당시 프로이센의 왕세자였던 프리드리히 2세의 관현악단에 입단했다. 1740년 프리드리히가 왕위에 오르자마자 베를린에 정착했고, 1742년에는 가족들도 그곳에서 함께 살았다.

1771년 이 관현악단의 악장이 되었으며, 작품에는 80개의 바이올린 독주곡, 15개의 협주곡, 교향곡, 트리오 소나타, 바이올린 소나타 등이 있다. 아들 프리드리히 빌헬름 하인리히 벤다(1745~1814)도 유명한 바이올린 연주자이자 작곡가였다. [다음백과]

Franz Benda’s Violin Concerto in D minor has all the drama that the choice of key suggests, with vocal writing for the solo violin. The major key slow movement is as effective as ever, with the singing line of the solo violin prominent, after the orchestral introduction, suggesting C.P.E. Bach’s opinion that the aim of music must be to touch the heart and move the affections, played aus der Seele (from the soul). The mood changes abruptly with the return of the original key in the final Presto, with its varied solo episodes and emphatic conclusion. The concerto dates from about 1760.
