This is the only piano quintet written by [underrated] Russian composer Anton Arensky (1861-1906).
It was completed in 1900.
Piano by Ilona Prunyi.
This quintet was described as "masterpiece" by Viktor Belayev, in Cobbett's Cyclopedic Survey of Chamber Music (1929). Cobbett himself also wrote of the scherzo that "it sparkles like diamonds in the sun".
